As I write this, the Princes of the Church are sequestered in the Sistine Chapel, preparing to choose a new Pope. This event, steeped in tradition, comes at a time when many believers are watching closely for the signs of the End Times foretold in Biblical prophecy.

Recently, I’ve been reading Spiritual Warfare in a Believer’s Life by Charles Spurgeon, and one passage stood out powerfully:

“Satan…has made men accept a stone for bread. Many have held, and still hold, that it is possible to find an infallible foundation in the Pope or other spiritual leaders…how any mind can by any possible contortion twist itself into a posture in which it will be capable of accepting such a belief is one of the mysteries of humanity. The notion of infallibility residing in mortal man is worthy of a madhouse and scarcely deserves to be seriously discussed.”
Charles Spurgeon

In Latin, one of the papal titles is Vicarius Filii Dei, meaning “Ruler in Place of the Son of God.” In Greek, the word Antichrist carries a similar meaning — the prefix anti- denotes both “instead of” and “against.”

While I personally don’t believe that the Pope himself will be the Antichrist described in Revelation, the claim of infallibility by any man who rules in place of Christ is both blasphemous and deceptive. Scripture warns of a coming world leader—the Son of Perdition—who will demand worship from all nations from within a rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem.

Matthew 24:15–18
“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak.”

These are clear signs of the End Times, and Jesus warned His followers to be alert and watch out when they begin to unfold.

Hollywood’s Mockery of Biblical Truth

Why does Hollywood continue to mock the things of God? NBC’s upcoming TV mini-series Revelations is yet another example. Its storyline strays far from Biblical prophecy, portraying a false narrative about the Second Coming of Christ.

For the record, when Jesus returns, it won’t be as an infant rescued from a shipwreck in Greece. Revelation 19 describes His return in full glory, not fiction:

Revelation 19:11–16
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns… On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Those who twist or distort God’s Word for profit or entertainment should remember this warning:

Deuteronomy 12:31–32
“You must not worship the LORD your God in their way… See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.”

Earthquakes and the Birth Pangs of Prophecy

Consider the two catastrophic earthquakes that struck Sumatra within three months of each other:

  • December 26, 2004 (the day after Christmas): A magnitude 9.0 quake triggered a tsunami that killed more than 250,000 people.

  • March 28, 2005 (the day after Easter): Another massive quake, magnitude 8.7, struck the same region.

These were among the ten most powerful earthquakes recorded in the last century—on the days following the two most sacred Christian holidays: Christmas and Easter. Coincidence? Or is God using creation itself to speak to us?

Matthew 24:7–8
“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.”

False Prophets and Counterfeit Revelations

A recent headline caught my eye: “Koran Scholar Predicts U.S. Will Cease to Exist in 2007.” A Palestinian scholar, Ziad Silwadi, claimed divine insight that America would be destroyed by twin tsunamis as punishment from Allah.

But here’s the truth — no prophecy unique to the Quran has ever come true. Only God, the Author of Biblical prophecy, has revealed and fulfilled hundreds of prophecies throughout history with absolute accuracy.

Isaiah 51:10–11
“Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea, so that the redeemed might cross over? The ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads.”

This is real prophecy — the Word of the Living God who saves, redeems, and restores.

The King of Kings Reigns

While the world grows darker and false prophets multiply, the promise of Jesus Christ’s return shines brighter than ever. The signs are clear — earthquakes, moral decay, deception, and spiritual confusion — all pointing to the soon return of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Be alert. Watch out. Stay Rapture ready. The time is near.

“The ransomed of the Lord will return… Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
Isaiah 51:11

God reigns. Amen.
