Dr. Tim LaHaye speaks about the Rapture

Ankerberg: What is the Rapture, and why are you so excited about it?

LaHaye: Well, the best description I can give is from the Apostle Paul, who called it the blessed hope.

The blessed hope is that Christ is going to come and take believers to be with Him, and we’ll be reunited with our loved ones. I’m sure you have loved ones—just like all the folks listening to this program—and part of God’s future plan for us is that we’ll see them again. And then, above all, we’ll see Jesus.

John, I’m sure it’s been a blessing to you to think about looking Jesus in the face and thanking Him—not only for your resurrection and the gift of eternal life—but also for the forgiveness of our sins.

I’ve often thought of myself as the chiefest of sinners. I’d have to argue with the Apostle Paul, who said that about himself, but I think almost everybody feels that way. We don’t deserve salvation. Yet to be able to look Jesus in the face and thank Him for including us, for forgiving us, and for making us His children—that is the richest blessing in all the world.
