The Latest
With the Iraq War now over and the next U.S. presidential election approaching, the liberal media has wasted no time in politicizing the news. Only a few months have passed, yet President Bush is already under heavy criticism because no Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) have been found in Iraq.
But honestly—so what? Who decided that a few months was enough time to search a country the size of California for hidden weapons of mass destruction? Appearances aren’t everything.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon recently used the phrase “occupied territories” in a speech about the ongoing peace process—a first for him. Is he surrendering to Palestinian demands? Probably not. More likely, Sharon understands that many Arab leaders have no intention of honoring peace agreements. There’s little risk in using diplomatic language when the other side continues to support suicide bombings against innocent civilians.
Why Peace Can’t Happen Yet
Bible prophecy teacher Hal Lindsey summarized it best when he explained why there can be no true peace treaty until the Antichrist enforces one:
“For the Arabs to recognize Israel’s right to exist on land once conquered for Allah is tantamount to saying the Koran is wrong.
On the Israeli side, recognizing Arab sovereignty over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount is a tacit admission that the Bible was somehow incorrect in its references to Jerusalem as both the City of God and the City of David.”
— Hal Lindsey
Until the Antichrist appears and temporarily enforces peace, the Middle East will remain divided. Scripture makes it clear—there will be no peace until the Antichrist reigns.
A World on Edge
As if global tensions weren’t enough, the United States now faces reports of a Monkeypox virus spreading from infected prairie dogs. It’s too early to tell how serious this outbreak will become—but it’s yet another reminder of how fragile the world is in these prophetic times.
