The war with Iraq has essentially ended—at least for now. Yet the Middle East remains dangerously unstable, and anything could happen on a moment’s notice. If Shiite Muslims take control of Iraq, it could spell trouble for women’s rights and relations with the Western world. Iraq may even become an Iranian puppet state.
Neighboring Syria should also be concerned. Their support for terrorists and harboring of former Iraqi regime members has drawn the unwanted attention of the United States. While a full invasion seems unlikely, a targeted missile strike is far from impossible. It’s only a matter of time before Damascus, Syria is destroyed, fulfilling the ancient prophecy.
Isaiah 17:1
An oracle concerning Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.”
Whether the destruction comes from the U.S., a coalition of nations, or Israel, Scripture makes it clear — Damascus will fall. Sometimes, intolerance is necessary when confronting terrorism and evil.
Meanwhile, North Korea has recently announced that it is converting radioactive material to weapons-grade level — another reminder of how quickly global tensions can escalate.
Adding to worldwide uncertainty, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is making headlines as governments scramble to contain it. With a mortality rate of about 5%, this virus has led to quarantines, closed schools, shuttered restaurants, and mask mandates in major cities like Hong Kong. Economies are faltering, fear is spreading, and some wonder if this virus could be a sign of a coming plague foretold in End Times prophecy.
In a world shaken by war, disease, and prophecy, one thing is certain — anything can change in a moment’s notice.
