The Pretribulation
Rapture
In this discussion, Olivier Melnick (Shalom in Messiah) and Pastor Tom Hughes dive into the prophetic significance of the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), the rapture, and Israel’s appointed times in Leviticus 23. Together, they explore:
- How the Jewish feasts point to Jesus (Yeshua)
- The prophetic order of Passover, Pentecost, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot
- Why the rapture is about preparation, not prediction
- The importance of dialogue over division in Bible prophecy
- The hope believers have in the Lamb’s Book of Life
Don’t miss this timely message that connects Old Testament feasts with End Times prophecy, reminding us that our future is secure in Christ.

Olivier Melnick: Something very clear we need to understand is the importance of dialogue. Too often in the prophecy world—and even in Christianity—if you disagree with someone, they won’t engage, they’ll just call you names. But Paul said in Galatians 4:16, “Have I now become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” Let’s reason together through Scripture.
Olivier: Shalom, everyone! Olivier here with Shalom in Messiah. I’m excited to have one of my favorite guests back—my “twin brother from another mother,” Pastor Tom Hughes.
Tom Hughes: Great to see you, Olivier. And yes—our birthdays are coming up. We’re not getting younger, but at least we’re running neck and neck!
Olivier: (laughs) Well, you’re the fit and good-looking one. I’ll just settle for being here! Today we’re talking about the Rapture, Rosh Hashanah, and whether there’s a connection. We’ll examine what Scripture says.
Tom: And right after this, I’ll be heading to Texas for a prophecy conference with some incredible speakers—Andy Woods, Pete Garcia, Eric Stackelbeck, and even Olivier himself. People can livestream it through hopeforourtimes.com.
Olivier: Wonderful. Now, let’s dive in. Leviticus 23 describes the appointed feasts of the Lord. Notice—they’re not just “Jewish feasts”; they’re the Lord’s feasts. They were given to Israel, but ultimately they point to Yeshua.
Tom: Exactly. God created the Jewish people for His purposes. The festivals, the Law—all of it points to Christ. Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, and Pentecost were fulfilled in Jesus’ first coming.
Olivier: Right—Passover in His death, Unleavened Bread in His sinless sacrifice, Firstfruits in His resurrection, and Pentecost in the birth of the Church. That leaves the three fall feasts: Rosh Hashanah (Trumpets), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (Tabernacles).
Tom: Many people speculate the Rapture will happen on Rosh Hashanah because of the “last trumpet” connection. But we must be careful. The trumpet in 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4 is different from the trumpet judgments in Revelation. We shouldn’t force the timing.
Olivier: Exactly. The feasts are thematically connected, but trying to pinpoint the Rapture to a calendar date creates problems. For example, if the Rapture happened on Rosh Hashanah and the Millennium followed Sukkot 22 days later, you’d have no room for the seven-year Tribulation. It doesn’t fit.
Tom: And placing the Rapture on a set date undermines imminency. Scripture teaches it can happen at any moment. The Rapture is not about prediction—it’s about preparation.
Olivier: Amen. Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Judaism speaks of three books—the righteous, the wicked, and the in-between. But biblically, there’s only one book that matters: the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 20). That’s where you want your name written.
Tom: Exactly. Good works can’t save us. We need faith in Christ. The law shows us we fall short, and only in Jesus do we find forgiveness.
Olivier: So yes, the Rapture could happen on Rosh Hashanah—or on any other day. The real question is: Are you ready? Have you trusted Yeshua for salvation? Because the best is yet to come—not in this life, but in the one with Him.
Tom: Well said. The Rapture should unite the Church, not divide it. Let’s focus on faithfulness—loving one another, sharing the Gospel, and storing treasure in heaven.
Olivier: Amen. Friends, thank you for joining us. This is part one of a three-part series: the Rapture with Tom Hughes, the Tribulation with Don Perkins, and the Millennium with Andy Woods. Until then—shalom and be blessed!
