Rapture Ready… Or Not?
Prophecy in the News – Kevin Clarkson with Terry James
Kevin Clarkson (Host):
Hello, and welcome to this edition of Prophecy in the News. I’m your host, Kevin Clarkson, and our guest today is Terry James. Terry is behind the largest prophecy website on the Internet, RaptureReady.com—and I go there frequently to check daily updates and articles. Terry is also the author of twenty-seven books; his newest was just published last month. We’re going to talk about it today. The title of Terry James’s new work is Rapture Ready… or Not?
Terry, I want to welcome you today.
Terry James (Guest):
Thank you so much for having me. It’s such a privilege to be with you.
Kevin:
We appreciate you—your gentle spirit and your love for the Lord. You actually have a heritage of faith. We were talking before we came on about your father and his service to the Lord. It’s wonderful to have that kind of family legacy.
Terry:
I was raised in a Christian home. Of course, you become a Christian by accepting Christ, not by being raised in a Christian home, but I’m so grateful I was raised that way. My mother had us in church every Sunday morning. Dad was quieter—a country boy—but he was there behind her. My brother and I were raised in Pekin, Illinois, in central Illinois. We were at the Independent Fundamental Churches of America every Sunday—and Wednesday, too.
Kevin:
You’ve also had a background over the years in public relations, business, and advertising. That seems to have helped you put the Gospel on a good platform to share with people.
Terry:
I think it prepared me for what I’m doing now with my writing. I spent years typing campaign slogans and similar things. God has enabled me to tie that experience to my natural propensity to write in creative ways. I’ve been able to transfer that to writing books—especially in God’s prophetic work—for which I’m grateful.
Inspiration and Process
Kevin:
I was intrigued by this book when you sent me the synopsis—several things stood out. We’ll talk about the experience behind it, the chapter titles (which are very intriguing), and the fact that you said of all the books you’ve written, this one came the easiest. You really sensed the Lord’s hand as you wrote.
Terry:
Writing is hard work, but this one came quickly. I told the publisher—the CEO at New Leaf Publishing Group/Master Books—that this book almost wrote itself. I was nearly finished by the time the contract was inked. It felt like it came directly from the mind of God. I’m not claiming Old Testament prophetic inspiration, but I sensed the Lord’s prompting in the process.
Kevin:
I’d love to see the appetite and audience for prophecy broaden. I think there’s real hunger out there. You told me you often inscribe Revelation 19:10 when you autograph books—“the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Terry:
Absolutely. He’s coming again—amen! We believe His coming is very soon, according to everything we see. He said, “When you see all these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28). We’re seeing these things begin to happen. His testimony is in our ears and eyes every day—if we’ll open them.
The Book: Rapture Ready… or Not?
Kevin:
Let’s look at the title: Rapture Ready… or Not? Fifteen Reasons This Is the Generation That Will Be Left Behind. You also emphasize that Jesus is coming whether people are ready or not.
Terry:
Right. He has made it plain He will intervene in the affairs of mankind. Rapture ready or not—whether one believes it or not—it’s about to happen. Earth is about to be convulsed in a moment unlike any other time in history. I believe that with all my heart, and that conviction motivated the book.
Kevin:
You say, “The end isn’t near—it’s here.” Why such a firm declaration?
Terry:
Because of Luke 21:28—“when you see all these things begin to come to pass.” Look at the headlines. We see Israel at the center of global controversy geopolitically—even though they’re a small, free nation. At the UN they’re opposed constantly. Even our own country, under this administration, has leaned that way in tone. Zechariah 12 says Jerusalem will become a burdensome stone to all nations—we’re there. Jesus said He would intervene when these things begin to come to pass.
The Great Sign: Israel
Kevin:
The great sign, of course, is the restoration of Israel—the resurrection of a nation from the graveyard of history.
Terry:
Yes—number one. There’s also the so-called “roadmap to peace.” This world is bent on globalism. Two things stand in the way: Israel (subject to satanic hatred), and the United States (the principal holdout to globalism). Joel 3:2 says God will gather the nations to the Valley of Jehoshaphat to judge them for dividing His land. The land is covenanted to Israel. Because the world insists on “land for peace,” judgment is coming. That’s why I say we’re not just near the end—we’re at the end.
A Strange Spiritual Experience
Kevin:
You also had a remarkable personal experience that shaped your writing.
Terry:
I try to work out regularly and have been in good health, though I’ve been blind since 1993. One day I felt a strong burning in my chest—pressure building. My hands got clammy, my breathing shallow. My wife said, “Call 911.” The EMTs couldn’t find a pulse. As they pulled the gurney out at the hospital, I heard a sharp electronic blip—and suddenly I was standing in front of a throng of young people in their twenties, men and women, beautiful, radiant, cheering and motioning for me to come. The light was brilliant. I moved toward them—and then everything went dark. Next thing I knew, the team was working on me. They said they had to hit me with the paddles—my heart had stopped.
They wheeled me down the hall; the pressure built again; I heard the blip—and again I was before the same throng, cheering with arms raised. I wanted to join them. Then it went dark again. Back in the ER, they were prepping a catheter to remove a blockage. The blip happened a third time. Suddenly I was running with the same throng—from left to right, as if on a screen—arms raised, cheering, looking over at me with joy. I thought, “I want to be here forever.” Then darkness—and I was back.
The cardiology interventionist showed me (verbally, since I can’t see) where they removed the blockage from the left anterior descending artery. He called it a “little micro–heart attack.” He said, “You can forget your breakfast, but don’t forget your pills.”
Every morning afterward, the first image in my mind was that beautiful throng. The Lord showed me Hebrews 12:1–3—we’re running a race “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” I believe He gave me a glimpse that, when believers pass from this life, we are immediately in His presence—and that heaven is cheering us on. That experience led to my earlier book, Heaven: Vision—Glimpses into Glory, and ultimately set in motion this book, Rapture Ready… or Not? Fifteen Reasons This Is the Generation That Will Be Left Behind. God’s hand has been on me every step.
I’m not one given to ecstatic experiences. But I have about fifty pages of medical documentation of what happened. God has been very good. He’s in our corner. He knows every intimate detail of our race. Those young people—and all of heaven—are waiting to cheer us on when we finish.
The Cover and Audience
Kevin:
The book’s cover is intriguing—not typical for a prophecy book.
Terry:
When the publisher first showed it to me, I didn’t have much say—and I’m glad. It features a millennial-aged young man, a design aimed intentionally at younger readers. At first I wondered, but then I realized the Holy Spirit had a purpose: to attract those who might not otherwise pick up a prophecy book. We’re getting good response. My prayer is that younger generations will examine the message.
Kevin:
I’m starting a small group with friends of our late son, Joey, who passed away at 25. They’re all over the map spiritually. Your chapter titles really speak to this generation. Let me read them quickly so our viewers can appreciate the hooks:
- The End Isn’t Near—It’s Here
- Planet Earth Needs a Shrink
- Big Brother for a Not-So-Brave New World
- Vampires, Zombies, Transhumans, and Other Fiends
- The Ravenous Bear
- Yes, They’re the Great Pretenders
- The Humpty Dumpty Dumbing-Down for a Great Fall
- The Roman Empire Strikes Back
- Who Is That Masked Man on a White Horse?
- A Really Strong Cocktail Called Israel
- Armageddon: Line Up for the Super Bowl of War
- The Greatest Comeback of All Time
They make me want to dive right in.
For our audience: you can obtain Rapture Ready… or Not? by Terry James for $14.95 (plus shipping and handling) at prophecyinthenews.com or by calling the number on your screen. It’s readable, compelling, and ideal to share with those who need to sense the urgency of the hour.
Terry:
Thank you, Kevin. Prophecy books aren’t the most “popular” genre, but I believe God put this book on my heart for such a time as this. We are very near the end. Please consider getting it into the hands of millennials, young adults, and even your pastors. Many pastors are wonderful evangelical leaders, but some hesitate to preach prophecy. I believe this will inspire them.
Conclusion and Invitation
Kevin:
We’re going to follow up with another show to peel apart those chapters and topics. Our guest is author Terry James, who also leads RaptureReady.com, the most-trafficked Bible prophecy website on the Internet.
Friend, I hope you know Christ. If you do, His return is the Blessed Hope—the glorious appearing—and we can’t wait. But if you or those you love don’t know Him: the Son of God came and gave His life for you on the cross, then rose again with everlasting life. He commands that we repent and believe—surrender to Him, trust Him, and call on His name—and we will be saved.
I want you to do that. Until then, let’s keep looking up.
