Background
Cyrus Ingerson Scofield (1843–1921) was an American pastor, Bible teacher, and theologian best known for publishing the Scofield Reference Bible in 1909. This groundbreaking study Bible, with its cross-references and detailed notes, became one of the most influential tools for teaching dispensational theology and Bible prophecy in the 20th century.
Converted to Christianity in his early thirties, Scofield went on to pastor several churches and became a leading voice in the spread of premillennial, pretribulational teaching. His work equipped generations of pastors, teachers, and laypeople to study Scripture with a focus on God’s prophetic plan for Israel and the church. The Scofield Bible remains a cornerstone resource in evangelical and prophecy-focused circles worldwide.
