Background

J. Vernon McGee (1904–1988) was a pastor, theologian, and Bible teacher best known as the voice of the worldwide radio program Thru the Bible, a verse-by-verse study of Scripture that continues to air globally decades after his passing. His simple, direct teaching style made the Bible accessible to millions of listeners across denominational and cultural lines.

McGee pastored churches in Tennessee, Texas, and California, most notably the historic Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. He also served as a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and was a strong advocate of dispensational theology. Through his teaching, radio ministry, and published works, Dr. McGee left a lasting legacy of making the whole counsel of God understandable to everyday believers.
