Background

Tim LaHaye (1926–2016) was a pastor, author, and teacher best known as co-author of the bestselling Left Behind series, which introduced millions to biblical prophecy through fiction. A prolific writer, he authored or co-authored more than 85 books on Christian living, family, and prophecy. LaHaye is the founder and president of Tim LaHaye Ministries and also founded two accredited Christian high schools, a school system of 10 Christian schools, Christian Heritage College (now San Diego Christian College), and assisted Dr. Henry Morris in the founding of the Institute for Creation Research, the nation's foremost exponent of creationist materials.

LaHaye also co-founded the Pre-Trib Research Center with Dr. Thomas Ice in 1994, dedicated to teaching and defending the pretribulation rapture view. Beyond his writing, he was an influential evangelical leader, conference speaker, and pastor, known for making complex prophetic truths understandable to everyday believers. His legacy continues through his books, teaching, and the ministries he established.
