All Bible prophecy centers around Israel, a tiny country surrounded by enemies sworn to her destruction in word, faith and deed. Never before in the history of the world was their a country that was, was not, and then became a country again some 2,000 years later. Even the Hebrew language was brought back from the dead. Life has been breathed into the dry bones of this small Mediterranean spit of land, that was a fruitless, dusty nomad's land not more than 60 years ago.
"Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. You dig the soil and you find pottery from Davidic times, coins from Bar Kokhba, and 2,000-year-old scrolls written in a script remarkably like the one that today advertises ice cream at the corner candy store."
– Charles Krauthammer
How many resolutions have been passed by the United States against Israel? The Answer is somewhere more than 65 times. How can the United Nations be taken seriously when they have not passed 1 single resolution against the attrocities committed by Northern Sudan against the south, yet focus so much time and energy on Israel? While Israel should not be above the law, the UN record speaks for itself. There is an obvious and clear bias against the country of Israel by the very same General Assembly which conceived of the creation of the state in 1948.
A United Nations vote for offical membership of Palestine based on rolled-back borders to the pre-1967 lines is upcoming in September, 2011. However, membership in the United Nations, according to Article 4 of its charter, is open to all “peace-loving states which accept the obligations contained in the present Charter and, in the judgment of the Organization, are able and willing to carry out these obligations.”
The items slated for discussion during the 66th regular session of the General Assembly include:
Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory,
including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over
their natural resources.
The United States has veto power in the United Nations, but Obama envisioned aloud that "when we come back here next year, we can have an agreement that will lead to a new member of the United Nations — an independent, sovereign state of Palestine, living in peace with Israel."
I believe that disaster is heading for America in the form of God's wrath if the United States continues to favor the granting of statehood to the Palestinians and if the United States does not exercise it's veto power against any vote that arises at the UN on the issue of Palestinian statehood.
Recently I read an article about the correlation between natural disasters in the United States following actions or decisions by the United States which are not in favor of Israel.
It's interesting that the entire East Coast was just rocked by a rare 5.9 earthquake centered near Washington D.C. and was followed by Hurricane Irene a few days later, causing the worst flooding in Vermont in over 100 years. Also interesting that the stock markets in America have been on shakey ground in response to the debt rating of the US being downgraded and global economic fears centering around countries in Europe like Greece, Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
We're about to see some major power shifts in the Middle East. This week Muammar Quadafi has been officially ousted by the rebels in Libya. A few months ago Mubarak of Egypt was ousted. It appears that Assad of Syria may be next to go in the popular Muslim uprisings against these Middle East dictators.
It appears that the stage is being set for the King of the South to make his appearance.
“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:2-3
"Thus says the Lord God:
'Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own Land."
Ezekiel 37:21
Looking for the Messiah
For the first time in recorded history we see 3 of the world's major religions looking for the appearance of their savior, messiah or enlightened one.
Christians are looking toward the Second Coming which is the return of their savior, Jesus Christ, the son of God.
Jews are looking for their messiah to come for the first time.
Muslims are looking for the return of the Mahdi, or enlightened one.
The meaning of Islam is 'peace'. Peace in the Middle East between the Arab nations and Israel is the ultimate but elusive objective of all governments which are involved in the so-called peace process.
While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
1 Thess 5:3They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace.
Jeremiah 6:14Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword.
Revelation 6:4
Christians also believe in the appearance of a global leader who rises from obscurity. A man who speaks of peace but who also is hell bent on destruction. His title is the Antichrist and his number is 666. I personally do not believe that it will be possible to identify who this person is until a 7 year peace treaty is signed between Israel and presumably the Arab Nations. The word 'Anti' is Greek and not only means 'in opposition to' but also means 'in place of'. So by his very nature he will be against God, but will see himself as a god or savior of humanity.
I found myself wondering about the Bible passage describing people saying "Peace, peace" … wondering if that might be translated as "Islam, Islam" since the meaning of 'Islam' is 'peace'.
The Koran mandates the muslims "fight against those who believe not in Allah" who refuse to accept what Allah or Mohammed taught, even if they are the People of the Book, who are essentially the Christians and the Jews, until they pay a tax in acknowledgment of the superiority of Islam and until they are in a state of subjection.
From the Koran 009.030 :
"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!"
There can never be true amity between the world's 3 major religions. Judaism and Christianity will eventually be reconciled when the Jews look upon the One who they pierced and weep in acknowledgment of their error. What will happen to the third religion, Islam? While it is true that Islam is currenlty the fastest growing religion in the world, it's destiny can only be to cease to be, to not even be a memory in His story.
